  3. I knew it! (But it’s a pity you won’t release a 720p release).

  4. Thank you for releasing this.

  5. if you want a 720, then you can try Thora group…they often release both format.

    • I know, but they often make the wrong choices for my tastes. Also, the 720p release showed artifacts on my computer. And I’ve never had that before.

      Comment by midhras — December 17, 2009 @ 10:51 pm | Reply

      • those artefacts most probably are caused by newer x264 encoder (some new encoding mode) and older directshow decoder (i’ve seen those on CoreAVC 1.9.5). Just update h264/avc decoder to something recently updated like FFDshow tryouts newest builds (included in klite codecs on free-codecs site)

      • Is that or they just broke the stream with ffdshow by deleting userdata from h264. That thing they do so noone knows their settings. They broke the stream in Evangelion 1.11 movie by doing that, it wouldn’t surprise me they had done the same this time.

        Anyways, thanks niizk. :3

  6. As far as I can tell the original DTS-HD MA stream on the disc has a bit-depth of 24 bits per sample. Yours seem to have only 16. May I ask why?

    Comment by Clamps — December 20, 2009 @ 3:02 pm | Reply

    • Clamps: generally because quite a few of audio streams have 24bit and 16bit for rear mixed in, hence the general solution to downlevel it all to 16bit.
another reason is the space saving of course. akira for example has 192khz, which i would downscale to 48khz as well, as i would start to question the video/audio proportion otherwise.

  7. hey niizk, any news on whether you’ll be uploading the ponyo making of DVD/bluray? Would be the perfect thing to accompany this awesome hires copy of the film.
