description:
In the sixth year of the Kan’ei era (1629), at the beginning of the Edo period, a samurai was hired to settle a grievance in the castle of Suruga. Appearing in a tournament which contraventioned all of the existing dueling laws to allow the use of real swords, the one-armed samurai starts a battle with a blind lame swordsman which brings together for the last time two mighty swordsmen whose bloody intertwined past is as beautiful and as gruesome as the scarred wounds that adorn their bodies and souls.

while the blu-ray source by funimation doesn’t warrant 1080p, it does help a lot to avoid a lot of artifacts that’d appear in 720p due to the heavy grain nature, this series has.
the reason itself is rather weak, and in addition, those encodes are a little overcompressed, but they should do a lot better than the rips present so far, as those were just overfiltered.

quality wise the source for this is pretty mediocre, interestingly it actually gets ok reviews for the video i dont think people actually bothered to compare it to the dvds’ when i got the bd box set i grabbed pal disc 1 from ADC and the difference was minimal, i doubt there is even enough detail in the bd version to justify a 720p encode then only having lossy 2.0 Japanese audio its a total shitbox release typical of funimation

read the description. pretty sure though that no mpeg2 dvd can handle fake grain as well as avc bd.
